The Pool Deck gives summer one Last Hurrah!

A rooftop pool party, unlimited Aperol spritzes and a world-class DJ getting the party going as the sun goes down on your holiday break. All that and more was on the cards at The Pool Deck‘s Last Hurrah pool party. An ideal way to head back to reality – even if Monday ends up being world of pain.

After a few weeks of holidays, away from the office and away from your desk, everyone deserves a last hurrah before returning to the real world.

At least, that’s what the team at The Pool Deck reckon (and us too, for that matter). Why not give the good time summer vibes one big send-off? And in the summer sunshine – after Saturday’s afternoon of downpours – that’s exactly what went down. Crowds enjoyed Aperol spritzes, frosé, snacks, and tunes courtesy of YO! Mafia by the pool, and in the pool.

Entering the Pool Deck’s Last Hurrah, it’s a sight to behold. Friends splashing in the pool amongst inflatable flamingos and animals, a dance floor steadily growing on the deck, bright and cheery orange lounges, and a smokers deck overlooking the rooftops of Carlton and beyond. Definitely not a bad way to spend a Sunday.

As the day rollicked along, party-lovers enjoyed a five-hour catering package, including roving gourmet canapés, unlimited Aperol spritzes and Cake Wines rosé, as well as frosé and summer ale. Party favourites like pizza and burgers were also on the cards.

And if you’re looking at that gorgeous pool, the festoon lighting, the bright blue skies and  wondering ‘why on earth haven’t I been to this glorious-looking venue?’, don’t worry – you’re not completely out of the loop.

The Pool Deck is a rare breed in Melbourne: a venue that’s still a hidden treasure. It’s relatively unknown as a function space (unless you well and truly have your finger on the pulse venue-wise), yet it boasts an enviable address just minutes from the city, along with plenty of room to party, expert catering options, modern decor – and a pool.

Perhaps it’s partly a result of the venue’s unlikely location – atop Rydges on Swanston. It’s not the first place you’d look for such a stunning event space, and such a quintessentially Melbourne rooftop pool bar. But that’s definitely where it is, in all of its glory.

Well, the secret’s out! The Pool Deck is available for functions throughout the year, for events of up to 300 guests. In our experience, it’s a top choice for milestone birthdays of all shapes and sizes, along with engagement parties and corporate celebrations.

Deceptively spacious, the deck itself provides shelter from the sun (and the rain), while the space stretches back to include extra space to sit and take in the view as the sun goes down.

And before you ask: yes, you can definitely swim in the pool.

Back to the Last Hurrah, however; as the evening boogied onwards, towels were left by the side of the pool in favour of the dance floor, party-starting favourites coming in thick and fast by way of YO! Mafia.

The vibe deftly transformed from a pool party to a dance party – and it was enough to make anyone forget about the fact that it was a Sunday evening, and Monday was just around the corner. All in all, a pretty excellent way to say farewell to the weekend.

And with that, the holidays are done. Out of office messages are turned off, and here we are back at our desks. Until next year (or the next event you plan)!
