What’s that? An addition to Kings Cross that combines a really, really good Japanese restaurant with a late night bar? With a party vibe on the weekend? And gyozas? And cocktails? One can hear the applause and sense the salivating from here, wherever that may be. Point is, Crane Bar and Restaurant is a very, very welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
Firstly, Crane Bar and Restaurant is something to look at. Each space has been lovingly designed, with an obvious Japanese influence combined with something rather more young and modern. There’s open air lounge out the back, an astroturfed garden party lawn at the front, and a couple of VIP rooms thrown into the mix, besides the requisite restaurant area.
Friends and family and posses of revellers are able to perch at the bar, enjoying gyozas with a side of cocktail. Or one can dine. Or one can get a group of pals to hit the dancefloor, shimmying beside the jacaranda tree bursting from the floorboards in the aforementioned open air lounge area.Crane Bar and Restaurant is found on leafy Bayswater Road in Potts Point, near the corner of Ward Avenue. Which, just FYI, is right down the road from Kings Cross train station. Success! Convenience! Of course, the city is also just a stone’s throw away.
